• What is different between “needle mat” and “ceramic fiber blanket”?
A: Thermo E-glass needle mat is produced from high-quality E-glass fiber (98% purity), and it has excellent property of electrical insulation. Its average density is 160 kg/m3 compare to 128 kg/m3 of general ceramic fiber blanket, so needle mat can retain its shape and density last longer than ceramic fiber blanket in case of long-time, high-temperature usage.
• Why most developed countries in Europe prefer needle mat rather than other insulation?
A: Thermo E-glass needle mat is made from 6-9 micron of glass fiber, so it has been proved about its safety to users’ health especially for respiratory tract. Also its service temperature around 550-600 °C is more than enough for general application in most industries.
• What is major different between “needle mat” and “ceiling insulation”?
A: Ceiling insulation has density around 24-48 kg/m3, with additional binders from manufacturing process, so it’s not suitable to use with high-temperature application. Thermo E-glass needle mat, on the other hand, is designed to use with most industrial equipment and machines i.e. turbocharger, furnace, electrical oven, heater, steam and gas turbine, etc. – please remember that our needle mat can withstand for 600-1,000 °C service temperature.

A: Our insulations are available in roll, sheet, stuffing, stamped parts, and molded.
• How can we select your insulation to suit the working temperature?
A: Our insulation are divided into these levels
>> 550-600 °C recommend NE (Thermo E-glass needle mat) or NESA (low emission type)
>> 700-750 °C recommend NA (Hakotherm®-800 needle mat)
>> 800-850 °C recommend NT (Hakotherm®-900 needle mat)
>> 1,000 °C recommend SK (Hakotherm®-1200 needle mat)
>> 1,050 °C recommend ST (Hakotherm®-1200 turbo needle mat)
>> 1,100 °C recommend SI (Hakotherm®-1300 needle mat)
• How long is the service life of your insulation?
A: The service life of insulation depends on types of insulation, temperature rank, and working conditions e.g. indoor or outdoor, water, chemicals, and frequency of removing insulation for maintenance. In general, average service life of proper insulation is between 3-5 years for indoor applications and 2-3 years for outdoor usage.
